Trucking Conditions Turned Positive
In May, trucking conditions showed significant improvement, with FTR’s Trucking Conditions Index (TCI) rising to 2.24 from April’s -1.95. This positive shift was mainly due to lower diesel prices and a less unfavorable freight rate environment. Despite this improvement, FTR’s vice president, Avery Vise, indicated that this positive trend might be short-lived, with expectations for rates to return to negative territory later in the year due to ongoing capacity issues.
